Mattel Says It Doesn't Owe Insurer Chunk Of $140M Bratz Fees

Law360, New York (September 5, 2012, 1:50 PM EDT) -- Mattel Inc. on Tuesday asked a California federal judge to toss Evanston Insurance Co.'s suit seeking a portion of the $139.8 million in attorneys' fees Mattel was ordered to pay MGA Entertainment Inc. in their long-running trade secrets dispute over Bratz dolls.

In its motion, Mattel argues that Evanston's amended complaint is based on the same post-judgment subrogation claims the court has already denied to other MGA insurers who similarly sought to recover part of the fee award directly from Mattel.
