DOJ, Publishers Buck Music Exec's Bid To Appeal E-Book Deal

Law360, New York (September 18, 2012, 5:25 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice and three major publishers on Monday urged a New York federal court to block a music executive's bid to challenge the recently approved settlement the two sides reached to resolve e-book price-fixing allegations.

In separate opposition briefs, the publishers — HarperCollins Publishers LLC, Simon & Schuster Inc. and Hachette Book Group Inc. — and the government said there is no reason to allow eMusic founder Bob Kohn to step in and appeal the settlement in the DOJ's case against Apple Inc.,...
