Section 8 Tenants Sue Over Delayed NYC Transfer Vouchers

Law360, New York (September 26, 2012, 7:52 PM EDT) -- Recipients of New York City's Section 8 housing vouchers launched a putative class action against the the city's housing agency Tuesday, claiming it has failed to process transfer voucher requests in a timely manner and puts them at risk of losing their subsidies.

Jonelle Shepherd, Yvette Velez and Sharemah Lamotte accuse the New York City Housing Agency of routinely failing to timely process participants' requests to transfer apartments, which they said puts them at great risk of eviction or homelessness.
