Musicians Union Sues Fox, Universal Over 'Simpsons' Music

Law360, New York (October 9, 2012, 5:09 PM EDT) -- The labor union representing American musicians has accused Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp. and NBCUniversal Media LLC of breaching their collective bargaining agreement by reusing music from “The Simpsons” for an amusement park ride based on the television show.

The American Federation of Musicians of the Untied States and Canada says the two media giants violated portions of the agreement that require additional compensation if studios want to use previously recorded soundtracks for new purposes, according to an Oct. 2 complaint.
