Google Evades Probe In Trademark Suit Against GoDaddy

Law360, New York (October 23, 2012, 6:48 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge excused Google Inc. and its executives Friday from providing depositions or further documents in a fight between the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and domain registrar GoDaddy.com over cybersquatting charges.

The Academy is suing GoDaddy over allegations that the domain-name registrar is allowing customers to register Oscars-related domain names, such as Oscarlist.com and 2011Oscars.com, and then reap revenues from ads placed on the pages, including from Google's AdSense program.
