Calif. Civic Center Builder Must Face Subcontractor's Suit

Law360, New York (October 31, 2012, 6:48 PM EDT) -- A California appeals court on Tuesday revived a whistleblower lawsuit against a contractor building a civic center in the affluent Los Angeles suburb Calabasas, finding that the plaintiff put forward evidence of substandard work.

California's Second Appellate District found that Brent Carpenter, a subcontractor fired from the Calabasas Civic Center project, adequately alleged that his replacements had failed to do adequate work on the contract. The decision revives a lawsuit against the general contractor, Bernards Bros. Inc.
