Starbucks Ordered To Serve Up $14M In Tip-Pool Suit

Law360, New York (November 13, 2012, 8:55 PM EST) -- The First Circuit sided with a group of Massachusetts baristas Friday in their long-running battle with Starbucks, affirming that shift supervisors can't dip into the baristas' tip pools and ordering the coffee giant to pay the group $14.1 million in damages over lost tips.

Former baristas Hernan Matamoros, Sharon Sam Chan and Kate Petersen won another round against Starbucks after the appeals court backed up the district court's March 2011 finding that shift supervisors are indeed managers and therefore can't dip into the tip pools, according...
