Judge Cuts $40M Slander Award Against 'Girls Gone Wild' Boss

Law360, New York (November 13, 2012, 4:30 PM EST) -- A California state judge on Friday slashed casino mogul Steve Wynn's $40 million jury award by more than half in a slander suit against “Girls Gone Wild” creator Joe Francis, saying part of the jury's award was speculative.

Judge Joanne O'Donnell reduced the jury's verdict by $21 million, eliminating the jury's $20 million punitive damages award and another $1 million the jury gave Wynn for comments Francis made during a televised interview on “Good Morning America,” saying that Wynn could have brought an expert witness to...
