Judge Tosses Suit Over Heinz's Hour Rounding Policy

Law360, New York (November 14, 2012, 4:49 PM EST) -- A California federal judge on Tuesday dismissed a proposed class action accusing H.J. Heinz Co. LP of denying factory workers full wages by improperly rounding their hours.

U.S. District Judge George H. King said the allegations — that Heinz's policies forced workers to show up early but rounded away the extra time — were unsupported by facts and widely deficient, but he allowed plaintiff Baltazar Mendez a chance to amend his claims and refile the suit early next month.
