Fox Asks 9th Circ. To Shut Down Dish Ad-Skipping Feature

Law360, New York (November 14, 2012, 5:41 PM EST) -- Fox Broadcasting Co. asked the Ninth Circuit to block Dish Network Corp.'s ad-skipping digital video recording service Tuesday, after a district court refused to issue an injunction despite finding that the service violates Fox's copyright and a contract between the companies.

At issue is Dish's DVR set-top box The Hopper, which it unveiled this year along with two features: PrimeTime Anytime, which lets viewers record a block of prime-time television and watch it later, and Auto Hop, which lets them skip ads during PrimeTime Anytime....
