Firm Fights For Slice Of $2.5M Fee Award In Blue Cross Deal

Law360, New York (November 16, 2012, 3:58 PM EST) -- Law firm Mazie Slater Katz & Freeman LLC told the Third Circuit on Wednesday that a biased judge had wrongly barred it from receiving part of $2.5 million in attorneys' fees stemming from a $19 million class action settlement with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey Inc.

Mazie Slater is urging the appeals court to reverse U.S. District Judge Faith S. Hochberg’s December order that the firm wouldn’t be awarded any fees or expenses related to the settlement, which the judge approved in 2009....
