FCC Boss Supports Opening Spectrum For Dish Wireless

Law360, New York (November 21, 2012, 6:45 PM EST) -- The chairman of the Federal Communications Commission circulated a proposal Tuesday that would approve Dish Network Corp.’s plan to launch a wireless service business to compete with existing carriers like AT&T Inc. and Verizon Wireless.

Chairman Julius Genachowski’s proposal would allow Dish to use spectrum in the 2 gigahertz band — normally reserved for satellite purposes — for land-based broadband services.
