9th Circ. Agrees To Rehear Political Ad Ban Ruling

Law360, New York (November 21, 2012, 9:02 PM EST) -- The Ninth Circuit on Wednesday agreed to grant the Federal Communications Commission an en banc rehearing of a decision that struck down a ban on political issue and candidate ads on public broadcast stations.

The appeals court said a majority of the court's justices had voted to reconsider the ruling, which the FCC says undercuts the long-established goals of public broadcasting by opening up stations to the same market forces and influences that commercial broadcasters face.
