$20M Facebook Settlement In Ad Images Suit Gets Nod

Law360, New York (December 3, 2012, 10:50 PM EST) -- Three months after rejecting Facebook Inc.'s first settlement deal in a suit over the social media giant's alleged nonconsensual use of users' photos in ads, a California federal judge on Monday signed off on a $20 million class settlement that includes direct monetary relief to plaintiffs.

U.S. District Judge Richard Seeborg preliminarily approved Facebook's settlement, saying he was satisfied with the revisions made to the previously rejected version of the settlement, which, instead of payments to plaintiffs, had set up a $10 million "cy pres" payment...
