Senate NDAA Allows Larger Contract Set-Asides For Women

Law360, New York (December 5, 2012, 7:19 PM EST) -- The U.S. Senate's National Defense Authorization Act, passed Tuesday, includes an amendment that removes a $3 million to $5 million cap on contracts that are set aside for small businesses owned by women.

The measure was one of 20 included in a quick vote late Monday. Retiring Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, introduced the amendment as a way to ensure the growth of women in contracting — the amendment also calls for studies every five years to determine the industries in which women remain underrepresented.
