Judge Dismisses Breach Of Contract Suit Vs. MetLife

Law360, New York (November 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has thrown out a proposed class action lawsuit in which a group of life insurance policy holders accused Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. of giving them lower dividends than those to which they were entitled.

In an opinion issued Thursday, Judge Gray Miller of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas said MetLife's alleged wrongdoing had occurred in the 1980s, and that the four-year statute of limitations for breach of contract claims had therefore expired.
