Northrop Grumman Ends Copyright Suit Over Faulkner Quote

Law360, New York (December 13, 2012, 3:12 PM EST) -- Northrop Grumman Corp. has resolved allegations by the estate of William Faulkner that the defense contractor infringed the author’s copyright by using an excerpt of one of his essays in a newspaper advertisement last year, after a Mississippi federal judge approved dismissal Wednesday.

U.S. District Judge Henry T. Wingate ordered the dismissal of Faulkner Literary Rights LLC’s lawsuit against Northrop and The Washington Post Co., days after the parties stipulated to end their copyright infringement dispute.
