Lions Gate Sues Retailer Over 'Hunger Games' Pin Sales

Law360, New York (December 20, 2012, 5:49 PM EST) -- Lions Gate Entertainment Inc., the production company behind the “Hunger Games” movie franchise, has hit an Amazon.com retailer with a copyright and trademark infringement suit for selling pins that allegedly knock off the series' Mockingjay icon.

Lions Gate claims Yagoozon Inc., which operates a retail site through Amazon, started selling counterfeit Mockingjay pins after the retailer's attempts to purchase licensed “Hunger Games” merchandise were rebuffed earlier this year. The suit was filed in California federal court on Dec. 12.
