CBS Says Rather's Claims "Far-Fetched"

Law360 (November 19, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- CBS is seeking to toss Dan Rather's $70 million defamation and breach of contract suit related to his contentious departure from the network, arguing that the claims against the network are false and untimely.

CBS claimed in court papers on Thursday that Rather's allegations "are time-barred by the applicable one-year statute of limitations" because the veteran newsman left CBS in June 2006 and did not file his employment suit until September, Reuters reported.
