Evanston Sued to Halt $32M Northwestern Univ. Visitor Center

Law360, New York (January 15, 2013, 6:36 PM EST) -- Three residents of Evanston, Ill., sued the city Friday in an attempt to halt construction of a planned $32 million Northwestern University lakefront visitor center, saying the structure would have a negative impact on the local historical district and existing wooded landscape.

Plaintiffs Matthew Mirapaul, Ann Jennett and Mitchell Harrison want the Cook County Circuit Court to issue an injunction blocking the construction of the seven-story structure, saying the proposed building is inconsistent with Evanston’s commitment to maintaining public and private green spaces, is not compatible...
