9th Circ. Vacates MGA's $172M Damages Win In Bratz Fight

Law360, Los Angeles (January 24, 2013, 6:54 PM EST) -- The Ninth Circuit on Thursday threw out a jury's $172 million damages award for MGA Entertainment Inc. in its Bratz doll copyright battle against rival Mattel Inc. and a former employee, saying MGA’s trade secret counterclaim wasn’t compulsory and “should not have reached a jury.”
