General Mills Pays $8.5M To Settle Yogurt False Ad Suit

Law360, New York (February 4, 2013, 6:42 PM EST) -- General Mills Inc. will pay $8.5 million to put to rest a California class action accusing the company of launching a national marketing campaign for its Yoplait YoPlus probiotic yogurt based on misleading digestive health claims, according to settlement documents filed Monday.

Under the settlement, consumers who purchased YoPlus will be entitled to $4 for each unit they purchased, and all unclaimed amounts from the $8.5 million settlement fund will be distributed to the National Consumer Law Center and the Mayo Clinic.
