DOT To Distribute $2B For Post-Sandy Transit Repair

Law360, New York (February 5, 2013, 7:08 PM EST) -- The first $2 billion of the $10.9 billion in emergency funds Congress approved last month for Hurricane Sandy relief will be distributed soon for capital costs associated with damaged public transportation facilities and equipment, federal transportation officials said Monday.

The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Transit Administration put state and local governments, Indian tribes and other FTA grant recipients affected by the Oct. 29 superstorm on notice that the initial $2 billion in emergency relief funds will be made available immediately and distributed before March 30....
