Chicago To Get $400M Hotel Near Convention Center

Law360, New York (February 19, 2013, 3:58 PM EST) -- Chicago officials announced plans Tuesday to build a nearly $400 million, 1,200-room “headquarters hotel” near McCormick Place, the largest convention center in North America, in order to accommodate exhibition and trade show visitors.

The new hotel will allow McCormick Place to add about 15 new events per year, generating about 80,000 attendees, and will cooperate with the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place hotel already located at the convention center to host large joint events, according to the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, which controls the center....
