BP, Others Resolve Calif. City's MTBE Case For $3.5M

Law360, New York (February 20, 2013, 4:16 PM EST) -- BP Products North America Inc., ConocoPhillips and Atlantic Richfield Co. reached settlements Tuesday worth $3.5 million with the city of Fresno, Calif., in multidistrict litigation over groundwater contamination from the gasoline additive methyl tertiary-butyl ether.

U.S. District Judge Shira A. Scheindlin granted BP's motion to dismiss Fresno's case after finalizing its $1.5 million settlement with the city, and ConocoPhillips' motion for a determination that its $2 million settlement was reached in good faith.
