Fight Over Chicago's $563M Garage Lease To Move Ahead

Law360, Chicago (February 27, 2013, 6:11 PM EST) -- An Illinois state court judge gave the green light Wednesday for a taxpayer group to proceed with its suit challenging Chicago's $563 million deal to lease four city parking garages for 99 years to an investment entity owned by two Morgan Stanley units.

Cook County Circuit Judge Rodolfo Garcia granted the plaintiffs' motion for leave to file a complaint, a necessary step for the suit lodged Feb. 13 by taxpayer group Independent Voters of Illinois Independent Precinct Organization and Chicago citizen Aviva Patt to get rolling....
