FTC Says Marketing Co. Sent 30M Junk Texts

Law360, New York (March 1, 2013, 3:30 PM EST) -- The U.S. Federal Trade Commission on Thursday hit Ecommerce Merchants LLC and several of its directors and officers with a lawsuit alleging the company sends unauthorized and unsolicited commercial text messages to consumers’ mobile phones and other wireless devices.

In the complaint, the FTC says Ecommerce and its officers Cresta Pillsbury, Jan-Paul Diaz, Joshua Brewer and Daniel Stanitski transmitted or arranged for the transmission of at least 30 million unsolicited commercial electronic text messages to the wireless handsets of U.S. consumers to promote products and services,...
