Stuy Town Tenants Object To $69M Settlement, Attys' Fees

Law360, New York (March 1, 2013, 8:09 PM EST) -- A pair of Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village tenants objected Wednesday to a recent $68.8 million class action settlement with the property landlords for rent overcharges, decrying the settlement as unfair and blasting lead plaintiff attorneys for their fee requests.

Joshua B. Katz and Leigh M. Singer contend that the proposed settlement, preliminarily approved in November, is unfair and allege that certain tenants will see little damages returned and that rents will still be set at unaffordable levels for some, according to a memorandum. They...
