Viacom Abused Position With $1B Fees, Cablevision Says

Law360, New York (March 7, 2013, 5:56 PM EST) -- Viacom Inc. allegedly threatened to assess more than $1 billion in fees against Cablevision Systems Corp. if the TV service provider licensed only the Viacom networks it wanted, a deal Cablevision calls "diabolical" in a redacted antitrust complaint filed Thursday in New York.

That detail emerged in Cablevision's antitrust complaint accusing Viacom of abusing its position in the market by forcing the plaintiff to carry the entertainment content provider's so-called suite networks in order to be able to offer popular channels like MTV and Comedy Central....
