Judge Throws Out N.Y. BAR/BRI Suit

Law360 (December 13, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has tossed a proposed $48 million class action that targeted Thomson Corp. and West Publishing Co.'s bar test preparatory company BAR/BRI under consumer protection statutes.

Judge Lawrence E. Kahn granted a motion to dismiss on Dec. 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York. The defendants moved the suit to that court after it was filed in New York state court in June. The parties were terminated from the case on Dec. 12, according to the docket....
