Bass Pro Can't Shake EEOC's Race Discrimination Suit

Law360, New York (March 19, 2013, 1:12 PM EDT) -- A Texas federal judge on Monday refused to toss a retooled U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission lawsuit accusing Bass Pro Outdoor World LLC of systemic racial discrimination in its hiring practices that has kept blacks and Hispanics out of the sporting goods chain's workforce.

U.S. Judge Keith P. Ellison mostly denied Bass Pro's motion to dismiss the EEOC's revised complaint, saying the government agency has made a plausible claim that the retailer's hiring directives resulted in a pattern or practice of discrimination. The decision permits the...
