Big East Says Rutgers' Exit Suit Belongs In Arbitration

Law360, New York (March 22, 2013, 8:25 PM EDT) -- Rutgers University's lawsuit seeking to leave the Big East Conference without abiding by a 27-month notice period or paying a $10 million exit fee should be dismissed because the school must arbitrate the dispute, the collegiate sports conference argued Friday in a New Jersey federal court filing.

Rutgers, which is moving to the Big Ten Conference, acknowledges that the lawsuit stems from a controversy over the parties' rights and obligations under the Big East's bylaws, but those same bylaws require the university to submit such claims...
