LA Accused Of Playing Favorites With Billboard Ban

Law360, New York (March 27, 2013, 5:03 PM EDT) -- An outdoor advertising company launched a legal challenge to Los Angeles' controversial ban on digital billboards Tuesday, claiming the city violated its freedom of speech rights by barring the company from digitizing 17 of its signs while allowing others to defy the regulation.

Lamar Central Outdoor LLC, headquartered in Baton Rouge, La., filed several applications between March 15 and 22 to modernize some of its existing off-site signs, all of which were denied by the city due to the ban, according to the complaint. The company...
