MidOcean, Mystery Pension Fund Top Greenbriar's EDAC Bid

Law360, New York (March 28, 2013, 6:14 PM EDT) -- It seems private equity “deal-jumping” may be catching. 

Private equity firm MidOcean Partners on Thursday offered to buy aerospace and industrial manufacturer EDAC Technologies Corp. for about $97 million, topping a bid from another private equity firm, Greenbriar Equity Group LLC.

MidOcean is bidding jointly with an unnamed North American pension fund. The firm isn’t saying which one, but it has close ties to Ontario Teachers Pension Plan and CPP Investment Board, which oversees Canada’s national retirement system. Both funds were original investors in MidOcean's 2003...
