Senators Urge Action On Delayed Contractor Debarments

Law360, New York (March 29, 2013, 5:45 PM EDT) -- A bipartisan group of U.S. senators urged the Army on Thursday to quickly debar contractors in Afghanistan that have ties to terrorist groups, expressing “deep concern and frustration” that the Army has failed to cut off ties with 43 companies and individuals linked to Al Qaeda and the Haqqani network.

The senators said all 43 companies had been referred for debarment by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, but the Army has taken no action to date to sever ties with the contractors. Nine of...
