Verifone's NYC Cab TVs Don't Infringe Patent, Fed. Circ. Finds

Law360, Los Angeles (April 8, 2013, 4:06 PM EDT) -- The Federal Circuit said Monday a system Verifone Systems Inc. uses to hold up electronic display screens in New York City taxicabs does not infringe a removable “book holder” patent held by a New York inventor.

The three-judge appellate panel affirmed a ruling by a New York federal court granting summary judgment of non-infringement to Verifone on both literal infringement and infringement under the doctrine of equivalents, saying it had correctly ruled that Chikezie Ottah’s patent for a removable book support platform used in certain vehicles...
