Birdsall Ch. 11 Trustee Tapped Amid Pay-To-Play Scandal

Law360, Chicago (April 8, 2013, 8:02 PM EDT) -- A New Jersey bankruptcy judge on Monday ordered an independent trustee to take the reins from management at Birdsall Services Group Inc., the engineering firm that sought court protection after being indicted in a pay-to-play scandal two weeks ago.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Michael B. Kaplan granted the U.S. trustee’s motion to appoint a Chapter 11 trustee over the case after a hearing in Trenton, according to a court order, frustrating New Jersey Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa’s bid to have Birdsall’s case thrown out entirely.
