Delta, Virgin Atlantic Seek DOT Antitrust Immunity For New JV

Law360, Los Angeles (April 8, 2013, 7:54 PM EDT) -- Delta Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd. filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation seeking antitrust immunity for a new joint venture on flights between North America and the United Kingdom, Atlanta-based Delta announced Monday.

The move comes after Delta agreed to swallow up a 49 percent stake in billionaire Richard Branson’s Virgin Atlantic for $360 million last December, making Delta a major trans-Atlantic player with a significant presence at London’s Heathrow airport.
