Acacia Unit Reaches Settlement With Verizon

Law360 (January 7, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A unit of patent-holding company Acacia Research Corp. has dropped claims against Verizon Wireless, the last remaining defendant in its patent infringement case over technology for transferring address data.

Contacts Synchronization Corp. said Monday it had reached a settlement agreement with Verizon, which had been targeted along with other wireless telecommunications companies in the suit filed in May in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin.

Verizon resolved the case “without admitting any liability for the alleged patent infringement,” according to CSC’s statement....
