Rutgers Settles With Disgraced Ex-Coach

Law360, New York (April 19, 2013, 1:53 PM EDT) -- Rutgers University agreed Thursday to a $475,000 settlement with basketball coach Mike Rice, who was recently fired after video surfaced of him berating and physically abusing players, a deal worth much less than the $1.1 million Rice was owed under his contract.

Rutgers' senior vice president for finance and administration and Rice signed off on a term sheet under which the school will give the coach a total of $475,000 to cover compensation and bonuses due under Rice's employment contract, and Rice will be barred from...
