Eye Care Rivals Face Threat From IP Holding Company

Law360, New York (October 25, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Patent-holding company Rembrandt Vision Technologies LP is suing two eye-care companies for infringing a patent it controls through its intellectual property portfolio.

Pennsylvania-based Rembrandt accused Georgia-based CIBA Vision Corp. and New York-based Bausch & Lomb, both rivals in the eye care industry, of infringing its patent for certain improvements to soft contact lenses. The suit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

The companies are accused of infringing the patent by selling their soft, gas-permeable contact lenses with tear-wettable surfaces....
