Ga. State's E-Reserves Are Fair Use, Libraries Tell 11th Circ.

Law360, Miami (April 26, 2013, 7:59 PM EDT) -- The Association of Southeastern Research Libraries, the largest regional research library consortium in the U.S., on Friday urged the Eleventh Circuit to uphold a ruling that Georgia State University's use of e-reserves to distribute copyrighted reading materials was protected by fair use.

In an amicus brief, the ASERL, which includes Johns Hopkins University, Emory University and Duke University, among others, asked the appeals court to uphold GSU's policy of sharing digital copies of academic texts with students through its electronic library reserve system, arguing the practice...
