Bryan Cave, AmEx Unit End Tax Shelter Class Action

Law360, Chicago (May 9, 2013, 7:15 PM EDT) -- Bryan Cave LLP and a unit of American Express Co. have reached a settlement in a putative class action over their roles in marketing life insurance-based pension plans that allegedly created an illegal tax shelter, according to documents filed Thursday in Texas federal court.

The law firm and co-defendant American Express Tax and Business Services Inc. said in a joint status report with the plaintiffs that a settlement has been reached, and asked U.S. District Judge Jane J. Boyle for 30 days to finalize the agreement....
