Ex-DOE Lab Workers Win $3M In Wrongful Firing Case

Law360, San Francisco (May 10, 2013, 9:51 PM EDT) -- Five former longtime employees of the U.S. Department of Energy's Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory scored a $2.7 million victory Friday when a California jury found that the lab had breached its employment contracts by laying them off in 2008 rather than eliminating temporary employees first.  

The jury awarded compensatory damages to the plaintiffs, including human resources worker Elaine Andrews; purchasing specialist Marian Barraza; and Mario Jiminez, Craig Olsen and James Torriche, a trio of supervisors from the lab's maintenance division, according to their attorney Gary Gwilliam of Gwilliam Ivary...
