Judge Backs Class Cert. In PHH Reinsurance Kickback Suit

Law360, New York (May 16, 2013, 3:45 PM EDT) -- A California magistrate judge on Tuesday recommended certifying a class of borrowers claiming that mortgage lender PHH Corp. used a shady reinsurance scheme to rake in an unlawful cut of the premiums they paid for mortgage insurance, finding the U.S. Supreme Court's recent Comcast ruling didn't create a barrier to certification.
