Starbucks' Bid To Decertify Class Action Fails

Law360, New York (January 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- In a blow to Starbucks Corp., a federal judge has knocked down the coffee giant’s bid to decertify a collective action brought by a group of assistant store managers who claim they were wrongfully denied overtime wages.

Judge Keith P. Ellison of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas said in a memorandum and order handed down Tuesday that there was a “meaningful nexus” that binds the plaintiffs’ claims together and that the similarities in their claims outweigh their differences.
