Fortress Asks Judge To Trim $44M Film-Investment Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (June 24, 2013, 3:18 PM EDT) -- Fortress Investment Group LLC on Monday urged a California judge to trim a $44 million breach of contract lawsuit accusing it of conspiring to profit from the early termination of a Citibank NA film financing deal, arguing the claims against it were based on “speculative allegations.”

In Los Angeles County Superior Court, Fortress argued that Aramid Entertainment Fund Ltd., failed to adequately plead tortious interference claims in its February 2012 complaint, which claimed Fortress and Sony caused it to lose its $44 million interest in the “Beverly Boulevard” slate financing deal, a five-year, $550 million partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc....
