GAO Awards Some Costs In Bid Protest Over Navy Contract

Law360, Chicago (July 8, 2013, 5:19 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Government Accountability Office on Wednesday awarded Marine Design Dynamics Inc. a portion of its costs from a successful bid protest on a contract for upgrades to an aging U.S. Navy ship.

In February, the Navy canceled solicitation on the contract and said it would reconsider its approach in response to Marine Design’s protest, which primarily challenged the decision to seek bids on an unrestricted basis rather than setting the contract aside for small businesses.
