Willkie Farr Pilots Men's Wearhouse's $98M Designer Line Buy

Law360, New York (July 18, 2013, 2:14 PM EDT) -- About a month after abruptly parting ways with its founder and pitch man, Men's Wearhouse on Thursday suggested it would take a new strategic direction, beginning with the $97.5 million purchase of the private equity-backed Joseph Abboud clothing line.

In the deal, Men's Wearhouse will take control over JA Holding Inc., Joseph Abboud's parent, now majority-owned by affiliates of J.W. Childs Associates LP. The terms give the menswear mainstay exclusive rights to stock and sell certain labels in its stores, primarily mall outlets across the U.S....
