CMS' Anti-Fraud Push Targets Providers In Fla., Texas

Law360, New York (July 26, 2013, 7:28 PM EDT) -- The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is banning certain home health providers and ambulance suppliers in Miami, Chicago and Houston from enrolling in Medicare and Medicaid through its first-ever moratoria aimed at stamping out fraud in high-abuse areas, the agency said Friday.

The moratoria start Tuesday, and new providers and suppliers who try to enroll in Medicare, Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program will be barred from doing so for the next six months. They affect two counties in the Miami metropolitan area, six...
